cardinals rookie stephen piscotty, who had another rbi in last night’s 4-2 win over the pirates, joined the ryan kelley morning after on thursday to discuss the team’s continued hot streak and his experience so far in the majors.
We typed up a few excerpts from the interview, which you can listen to by clicking the audio player or link below:
Some people say there’s a calmness about you uncommon in rookies:
“I think I’ve been fortunate enough to play quite a bit and get in a routine. I think once you’re able to do that…that really helps. I’ve been able to attack the day in the same manner. The guys in the clubhouse have all been very welcoming. Everything has been good.”
What position you most comfortable in?
“Right field is probably where I’m most comfortable. Obviously with a Gold Glover over there, it’s not going to happen. I feel good in left. And first base has also been a new challenge. All my life I’ve been kind of bouncing around, so it’s not new to me to be switching positions.”
What’s your experience been with the Cardinals so far?
“It’s been an unbelievable few weeks. I don’t want to say I’m surprised with my success…But I’m just very pleased. I couldn’t have asked for a better start. I feel good at the plate. Getting to play here and really having a goal in each at-bat has really been helpful for me. I thrive when I’m on a team trying to win games. It’s just so much fun. I’m starting to get that feeling about what baseball this late in the season feels like. I’m looking forward to that last stretch.”
